Wyoming Breaks into High Tunnel Production at the Anderson Ranch in Riverton

In the Spring of 2013 we had the unique opportunity to head West and do a project far from our headquarters in Northeast Ohio. We were contacted by a couple of Ranchers in the great State of Wyoming to get them some pricing on a 20 ft. Wide x 48 ft. Long Gothic Profile Commercial High Tunnel. We gave them pricing for both a DIY Kit and a fully installed system by our crew. The Ranchers had approached our company as well as a few other greenhouse suppliers to provide them with pricing, but it turns out that most others didn't want to make the trip install a single tunnel. Thats where Tunnel Vision Hoops stepped in...For starters, we had not built a tunnel in the State of Wyoming, which gave us a clear incentive to make our way West in order to set our "flag" in the sand. Second, and more importantly, these Ranchers were needing a tunnel to help their operation! Enough said...ROAD TRIP!

Since we manufacture almost all of the different elements of our High Tunnel Hoop House Kits, heading out to Wyoming presented some unique challenges. Primarily, what is the most inexpensive way to deliver a very large amount of materials, as well as two people for the build? Could we ship the Tunnel, and fly the people there? Should we load everything in the Truck and drive the 1,700 miles there with a fully loaded vehicle? After some number crunching, and some shoulder shrugging we decided to make a trip of it, and load the truck for an adventure.

Upon arriving, Ron and Gay Anderson were the best hosts tunnel building fella's could ask for. They provided accomodations on-site to reduce costs, made us breakfast, lunch, and dinner each day, had a beautiful view of Wyoming's countryside, and most imporantly they were two of the most genuine, freindly, thoughtful, and passionate people we have encountered. True, get up at 4 am Ranchers. Salt of the Earth Americans. The two of them were both enjoyable to work for, as well as an inspiration for how to live freely.

1,700 miles there, a few days on a build getting to know some great people, and 1,700 miles back. We had a great time, saw a great state, and really enjoyed sleeping when we got back to Ohio.
